My family is always looking for fun outdoor events. One event that has a more than thrity year history is The Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Classic. This would be our first visit to the event and would prove to be an event we'll look forward to attending for years to come. It's located in Decatur, Alabama around Point Mallard Park. The event includes arts and craft show, tractor show, car show, and not to mention the hot air balloons.
The tractor show was a big hit with my family. It was great to see these old machines returned to a like new condition. We enjoyed talking with the people who restored these machines. The smile on their faces as we asked questions was priceless. In Alabama, it wouldn't have been a true tractor show without someone going a little wild on a racing lawn mower.
The car show was a real treat. I was impressed with the quality of the antique cars. My children ran from car to car saying, "look at this one".
Not to mention the homemade icecream from a vender in the car show area topped off the experience.
The biggest attraction by far was the hot air balloons. If you show up to the event during the middle of the day, don't expect to see any balloons around. They hold morning races then come back for evening tethered rides and glow event. We had to leave before the night time glow event, but still got to see the balloons. Here are a few pictures.
